We
are pleased to announce that the Model Alliance resin range has just been
extended with the release of a 1/72nd scale engine and prop replacement set for
Italeri’s C-130J Hercules. This after-market pack has been produced in
collaboration with Jennifer Wright who works closely with the aircraft as a
technician in the RAF and the test shots were reviewed by Mike Williams during
his superb build in the May 2007 issue of Scale Aviation Modeller International.
The injection moulded engine nacelles on the Italeri kit can be seen to be
fairly inaccurate when placed next to the resin set which is designed to closely
mimic the Rolls-Royce Allison AE 2100D3 turboprop employed to power the
aircraft, including the USAF’s C-130J’s and the RAF’s C4 and C5 transport
variants.
The set is part of a limited edition resin run that substitutes the engine
nacelle, propeller hub and Dowty Aerospace six-bladed composite propellers which
are moulded far too thick in the kit.
