Tamiya's 1/48 scale N1K1 is available online from Squadron
 

Here are pictures of a recently finished N1K1 Kyofu, built from the Tamiya kit in 1/48 scale.

I intended to create a rather heavily weathered surface with wide parts of the IJN Green abrased and the aluminium shining through. For this, I covered parts of the surface, which was primed with Alclad II “White Aluminium” before, with "Colour Stop" from Revell using a small piece of a sponge. This method is quite easy to use -and efficient.

After applying the decals I used an etching needle to puncture the Hinomarus and other markings to simulate attrition on this areas.

The Kyofu was – with the exception of seatbelts from Eduard - built out of the box.
