Here is my 1/72 scale Fine
Molds Millennium Falcon.
The model has been built
essentially straight from the box, however some little changes have been
made:
Building
Along the perimeter the
little recessed squares were removed with a cutter.
Some holes were drilled
near the radar (upper hull) and the engine (lower hull).
The attachment of the
tubes has been filled with putty.
The painting has been
inspired from photos of the real model. Humbrol colors has been used (no
decals applied).
The weathering has been
done with a mixture of techs. I followed these
steps:
-
Black/Grey washing:
oil colors sprayed overall the model and removed gently after 15
minutes.
-
Brown/Yellow
washing: as above but with the brown oil color.
-
With a black and a
gray pastel I realized the radial effects.
-
With a brown oil
color I realized rust effects (using the enamel thinner I removed
the excess to obtain fine lines).
-
With Tamiya smoke I
recreated the scorched effect near engines.
-
With Matt Black (Humbrol
33) well thinned directly with a fine brush I obscured again the
recessed panel lines.
-
A little dry brush
with white/grey to increase tridimensionality of the little objected
placed on the surfaces.
-
Final airbrush
effects overall the model and especially near the engine.
-
Final a flat coat
was applied (humbrol 49).
-
Final metal effects
with SNJ
The photos were taken with
a Nikon Coolpix and enhanced with Photoshop to remove the background.
