Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hien (Tony)

Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Ki-61-I Hei Hien is available online from Squadron.com

Description

This is brand new Hasegawa 1/32 scale Kawasaki Ki-61-I Hei Hien (Tony).

The initial kit release comes with a bonus soft metal figure of Capt. Kobayashi.

Hasegawa's box is full of beautifully molded parts, crisp detail, nice panel lines and fabric detail.

Three painting options are offered: Kobayashi green splotches on silver background; Koyake’s bare metal machine and Tabata’s green top and silver bottom.

This Ki-61 depicts the aircraft flown by Sgt. Kiyoshi Ando. Ando rammed the B-29 on 29 of January 1945 over Mt. Fuji in this aircraft while serving as Capt. Kobayashi wingman. It did not survive the attack.

My model is painted with Tamiya Bare Metal Silver spray can with Alclad highlites on various panels.

Splotches are done with Tamiya JA Green, I also used Gunze red and yellow.

All markings (except 244th Sentai tail marking and Stencils) are masked and painted. Pilot is painted with a combination of Tamiya (base) and artist’s oils.
