Description

Here are some images of Revell’s 1/48 Eurofighter. I built it straight from the box, only adding hydraulic pipes to the landing gear according to photographs.

Building it revealed no major problems but some care should be taken when fitting the wings and air intake assembly to the fuselage.

The only real shortcoming of this kit is the intake – it is much too short and simply ends at a plastic wall. I did nothing to improve this but painted the wall flat black so it is very hard to see that there is nothing in there.

Decal options are for Eurofighters from Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria (demonstrator) and Great Britain.

I chose one of the three (!) british options: No. 3 Squadron, RAF Coningsby. The british markings add a little colour to the overall grey and furthermore I had some nice pictures of a No. 3 Sqdr. aircraft taken at Laage AB, where it was one of the visitors for the 50th anniversary of the Luftwaffe.

I painted the model in Barley Grey (Xtracolor) and for the Radome and leading edges of wings and tailplane I used FS 16314 Flint Grey.

Painting instructions state the usual mixture of Revell colours – the same for all the decal options. This is definitely wrong, as there are visible colour differences between the various air forces. One has to find out what suits the chosen aircraft.

Note also the very large amount of external stores included.
