Here is my
representation of two aircraft once owned by Qantas.
RAAF Boeing
707-338c A20-629
First is a Boeing
707-338c A20-629 of the RAAF. This aircraft was flown by Qantas as
VH-EAI "City of Darwin" .
In 1983 the RAAF turned
it into a tanker and named it "City of Sydney". It has since been
painted overall grey (boring).
This is the Heller 1/72
707-300 kit OOB with Hawkeye Decals of RAAF HighViz markings 1999-2000.
John Travolta's
Boeing 707-138
Second is a Boeing
707-138. Originally VH-EBM "City of Launceston" in 1964. John Travolta
purchased the airframe in1998 and subsequently has had it painted to
represent the original Qantas V-jet colors for the 'Spirit of
Friendship' tour 2002. The aircraft now N707NT has been named JETT
CLIPPER ELLA. Quite clever I thought!
This is the same Heller 707-300 but it has been shortened both in front
and behind the wings to the correct scale length. The wing root and tips
have been modified to represent the 138C.
The decals are once again Hawkeye, Qantas Boeing 707-338c 1965 scheme,
but modified to represent Travolta's jet as the paint job is not
identical to 1965 V-jets. Custom made decals have also been added.
This is not an illusion!
