Here is Italeri's AH-1W "Whiskey Cobra" in 1/48 scale.
The kit was scribed and then rivets were drilled in using a Tritool
scriber, needle (And drills) in vise and label tape.
The Molded-on mesh was sanded away from the insde and PE mesh was put
in for effect. You'd be suprised how many different kinds of mesh you
can pick up at model train stores.
The Gun was fashioned from stainless tubing and then I used a piece
of sheet styrene to separate the barrels.
An aftermarket cockpit was sourced from the Cobra company; and Two
Bobs Decals were employed(loved that sheet guys!).
Paints were Gunze 307 and 308 over my usual black primer paint (tamiya
flat black...overall) and the weathering was oil (raw umber and some
mars black) with Ronsonol lighter fluid as as a medium.
There will be plenty more on this subject since this is one of four
kits going into a big diorama. I'll keep posting!
