Description

This Revell-Monogram-ProModeler (Hasegawa) A-4F (in Blue Angels packaging) is the last of a trilogy that emanates from the decal sheet of the HobbyCraft A-4E/F 'Adversary'. The markings for three Adversary A-4s are precise and very high quality.

Black 56 and Red 55

'Black 56' is the HobbyCraft kit itself, while 'Red 55' is the old ESCI kit, re-relesed by AMT/ERTL in the early 90's.

There really isn't much to choose between these two kits in quality and detail, and the newer RMP(H) kit is quite a leap beyond them.

The two earlier kits were built simultaneously in the late winter of 2001, the remainder of the decal sheet saved with the Hasegawa kit precisely in mind.

Red 10

'Red 10' was painted with Testor's Model Master enamels - Sand FS 33531, Dark Tan 30219 and Military Brown 30117 with some Gloss Black added to darken it some.

A few pieces from the Eduard A-4E/F detail set were added (instrument panel, brake lines, windscreen wiper, some wiring), but this is not a model that needs a lot of extra stuff.

The seat, however, was replaced with one from Verlinden, although a good portion of the bottom sides need to be sanded down to get it to fit!

So, with all due respects to Nordoff & Hall, my small trilogy is complete. Now on to the Lithuanian Air Force!
