When I first
saw Trumpeter's 1/35 scale Hotchkiss kits I knew that I would build one.
When reading reviews about them, a lot had not very promising comments
made.
I decided to
pay no attention to these and started to build so that I could make the
judgement for myself.
When building
this kit, yes, there were a couple of stages that could be improved
upon, being, the tracks which are a bit to long, the upper hull needs
care to make it fit right, the instructions were a bit vague on the
fitting of the gun and shields, but with a little thought all ended up
going together okay.
When painting
the kit, I decided to paint it in two parts, so as to get the interior
detail. Once the interior was finished and weathered I then put the two
parts together and painted the exterior in a faded three tone camouflage
scheme, followed by scratches and scrape marks, then a very light
dusting of Flat Clear with a touch of Buff to tone everything down.
The last
feature added was the foliage which I got from my parents-in-law's back
yard. It is Fennel plant dried out. I think its quite convincing in 1/35
scale.
You may
notice a dead soldier in the back of the fighting compartment. This kit
is going onto a diorama that will be featured later when completed.
I really
enjoyed this kit and, apart from the minor problems, is an excellent
model.
Give one a
go. It won't disappoint.
