P-47D Thunderbolt

Academy's 1/72 scale P-47D Thunderbolt is available online from Squadron.com

This is a P-47D in 1/72 scale based on the Academy kit.

I added Aires wheel wells, elevators, rudder and engine (not very visible though). The photoetch came from Part.

The model was airbrushed by Aeromaster acrylics except for the duraluminium which is Extracolor (disappointing result - I should have used my proven Metalizer from Testors instead). The decals came from Superscale.

The kit has several inaccuracies I failed to fix (e.g. super charger exhaust). Having finished this aircraft I realized I had also forgotten to install an underbelly B-7 shackle.

Anyway I'm quite pleased with the result.
