F-8 Crusader

Revell's (ex-Monogram) 1/48 scale F-8 Crusader is available online from Squadron.com

Here is my 1/48 scale F-8 Crusader from Monogram, as recently re-released by Revell. I figured I'd get this in before Hasegawa releases theirs!

I got this kit in a trade with a fellow Hyperscaler and went right to work. I started by scribing over the panels and using a small drill for some rivet work. I then sanded the entire kit, starting with 400 grit and ending with 1500, finally, polishing the kit with an old t-shirt.

The cockpit is Black box, which went in with no problems. I did not add much else in the way of aftermarket.

I painted this particular kit with Tamiya Acrylics. I went with XF19 sky grey, mixed with white for the uppers and gloss white for the lower surfaces. The decals were from CAM and after applying them, I did a wash using Ronsonol fluid and raw umber oil paint. The flat coat is from Humbrol.
