Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6

Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here are two pictures of Bf109 G-6, 1/32 Hasegawa, modeled by Jerry Crandall of "Yellow 7" 9./JG 3 "Udet" Die Augen Staffel (Eye Squadron). The model was completed with the addition of the Eagle Parts replacement resin spinner.

Jerry notes: "I was very interested in building this model and trying out our decals because of the challenge of the large yellow eyeball over the machine gun bulges. The way I would suggest accomplishing this would be to build the model without the bulges, applying the yellow decal to the correct position, then glue the yellow bulges into position which would require using a small strip of the black outline supplied separately to complete the eyeball with the black outline."

"My first attempt was to use the decal over the attached machine gun bulges which was a disaster! So I had to cut a mask using our black outline as a guide and then painting the entire area yellow, then I cut the black outline into two pieces (upper and lower section) and applied them over the yellow paint. Not for the faint of heart, but it can be done! I was happy with the way this colorful, almost bizarre, marking turned out. I photographed the completed model on Dave Schemel's Just Plane Stuff new 1/32 Luftwaffe hardstand and it is an excellent way to display models. The way he produced it is very clever and innovative. Highly recommended!"
