Model 11 Val

Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Val is available online at Squadron.com®

This is the Hasegawa 1/48 Val. 

The kit is well up to the high standard of the brand and the detail is good and accurate. Even so, since I had Eduard's PE set for the kit right in hand I used it to enhance the details, mostly the interior. 

All paints used were Gunze Sanyo lacquer series and the oil colours were Windsor/Newton from England. 

Attention was paid to weathering, with reddish dark brown added to the base colour to make the panel line shading and tuned down basic colour with flat white added to obtain a faded colour effect. Thoroughly washed with dark red, burnt sienna and black oil colours mixed together and thinned with Zippo fuel, a final flat coat finished the thing off. 

Chipping was done by means of gun metal blended silver applied carefully with a fine brush, and the atenna was 0.1 diameter nylon fishing line. 

Kit decals were used to depict an aircraft from the second flying group.
