D3A1 "Aichi" Val IJN Zuikaku

Here is Hasegawa's 1/48 scale D3A1 "Aichi" Val. 

Additional items used to finish this kit include Aeromaster decals, Cutting Edge Base, and the Eduard Cockpit Set.

I painted my Val in a "controversial" grey color scheme based from J-aircraft.com using Model Master Enamels.

This model took about 100hrs to complete over a 3 month period. It won first place in the 1/48 single-prop Axis category in 2000 IPMS Seattle show.

This model now resides at the USS Arizona Memorial Museum at Pearl Harbor.
