Academy's
1/48 scale P-47D Thunderbolt is available
online from Squadron.com®
This is the 1:48 Academy P-47D, not-so-straight-from-the-box.

The kit cockpit was replaced with a combination of True Details resin
and Eduard photoetch.

The engine is the outstanding Aires resin Pratt & Whitney R-2800
with a KMC resin Hamilton Standard prop, while the landing gear is
comprised of Teknics brass legs and True Details resin wheels. The
canopy is the Squadron vac.

The rivets were applied with a home made pounce wheel fabricated from
a watch cog, some brass rod and a sewing pin.
SnJ was used for the natural metal finish along with Aeromaster
enamels and Tamiya acrylics.

Weathering was accomplished with pastels and a wash of Liquitex
acrylics. The decals were from Aeromaster.
