Mauve's
1/48 scale P-40M Kittyhawk is available
online at Squadron.com
This project started from a long-held wish for an accurate 1/48 scale
P-40E. It is a shame that the model manufacturers like Hasegawa, Tamiya
or Accurate Miniatures have not produced this classic aircraft in
miniature.

The kit started life as the Mauve P-40M (or Kittyhawk III) kit with
the Aeromaster P-40 F/L conversion tail, and the AMT P-40F exhaust
stacks instead of the flattened stacks that come with the Mauve kit.
That’s really all there is to building a early P-40. Maybe in time we’ll
get a decent kit straight from the box, or even a decent P-40B/C!

The model was masked with frisket paper and then weathered with
artist oil paints.

Decals are from Super Scale.
