Heinkel He 219A-0

Shanghai Dragon's 1/72 scale He 219A-0 is available online from Squadron.com

Introduction

Here are some photos of my 1/72 scale Dragon Heinkel He-219 A-0. It represents the Werner Streib's aircraft coded G9+FB.

In my opinion the Dragon model is quite accurate in overall dimensions and shape so I focussed my attention on the details - cockpit, control surfaces and undercarriage.

I have used the Falcon canopy and Eduard photo etched parts to detail my Uhu.

Painting and Decals

The model was hand painted using the acrylic Aeromaster RLM 76. This base color was then mottled using a Swan Gray (similar to the RLM 75) pastel for fine arts. Derwent pastels can also be used.

Every tiny mottle has been drawn by using the pastel. This technique permits the desired size and the "angular" shape (as was the case for many He-219s) rather than the "rounded" shape done by the spray gun.

The decals are from the spares box.

At the end of painting and decaling, the model was sprayed with a mix of Model Master Glosscote and Dullcote.

The digital camera is the Sony Mavica MVC-FD91.
