Boeing F/A-18E Hornet

Italeri's 1/48 scale F/A-18E is available online from Squadron.com

This is the Italeri 1/48 scale Super Hornet.

The kit was built from the box, with the following improvements

• A Monogram cockpit was added to replace the poorly detailed kit assembly. Black Box have since released a cockpit, which would be highly recommended

• The Canopy was tinted

• New ejector seat (Hasagawa F18C)

• The Air brake was deleted.

Although I did not know this at the time, the Super Bug features a radar housing in front of the canopy which is not included in the kit, so check your references. For anyone considering building this kit, you may want to consider investing in the new Hasagawa weapon set, as the kits weapons seem a little out dated for such a new piece of hardware. Weathering was kept to a minimum since these aircraft are still very new, but time should undo this.

Decals were from the kit, although CAM Decals have now released a set of colorful CAG markings.
