This model is based on Pend-Oreille Model Kit's 1/48 scale resin
F2G-2.
When I saw the poor quality of this USD$50 kit, I kitbashed my
Super-Corsair! Half of the fuselage, wings, tail and the details are from
Tamiyas F4U-1. I use the very forward of the resin-fuselage from PO and
modified/corrected the exhaust-channels.
Cockpit is from True Details detailed with scratchbuilt parts.

The forward cowl ring from the POMK kit has been corrected by
using the front ring from Tamiya glued at a minor angle (the top edge is moved
forward).

The most difficult problem was the 14' propeller. The POMK
Blades are too short and have an inaccurate profile. I widened and lenghtened
the blades with sheet, primed 3 times with primer and combined them with a
spinner from Hi-Tech.
The wheels are from Hellers' F4U-7.
The masks for the cowling checks were prepared on my computer.
Just before completion, I received the new article by Steeve Muth, so I can
build the correct configuration of the lower 3 cooling flaps.
