Here is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Chance-Vought F4U-1 "Birdcage"
Corsair.
As a rule I prefer to build out-of-the-box, or with very minor
enhancements and this Corsair falls into the latter category. I added
photo-etched seat belts, ignition wires and landing gear retraction springs,
with the remainder of the model as Tamiya had intended.

The model is finished with Xtracolor enamels and Aero Master
decals.
The step cut-out in the flap should have been filled in, but it
is a detail I was not aware of until after the model was completed.

I guess it was not too serious as the judges awarded it first
place at the 1999 U.S. Nationals in Orlando in a category of 50 plus models.
