AV-8B Harrier

Revell-Monogram's 1/48 scale pre-painted AV-8B is available online from Squadron.com

Construction

Here is some Marine-Muscle from McDonnell Douglas - Monogram's AV-8B Harrier in 1/48.

I started with the "old" Monogram kit and bought it the very beautiful cockpit from Black Box.

All trailing edges of the wings and control surfaces were a little bit too thick, so I thinned them down. Some details including navigation lights were made from clear plastic (CMK). New antennae as well and brake lines came next, and lenses from MV-Products for the undercarriage followed.

The fabrication of the explosive cord inside the canopy was particularly entertaining. I made a jig from a board and nails and then bent the explosive cord from 0.3 mm soldering wire.

Markings

The markings are from the very beautiful AV-8B Two Bobs Aviation Graphics decal sheet. The sheet is printed very clearly and can be very much recommended.

Many thanks for the kind support by Two Bobs (picture of the real plane #50 IFOR ) and Jens Popp/JPS-Modell (support with the decal sheet).
