Exito Decals Item No. ED32003 - Supermarine Spitfire "Sexy Spitfires", €19.25

plus shipping available online from Exito's website

Scale: 1/32 (also available in 1/48 and 1/72 scale)
Review Type: One sheet of decals (19 x 11cm) and three glossy A4 double-sided cardboard poster/instructions.
Review Type: First Look
Advantages: Outstanding production and presentation with an interesting addition of the framable prints. Well-printed, great density and register and excellent research of the subjects.
Disadvantages: Rather flimsy sleeve once opened.
Conclusion: Decals are beautifully printed by Cartograf, with negligible carrier film in gloss finish, while colour density appears to be excellent and register is perfect. I commend this sheet to any modeller of these aircraft in 1/32 for its quality production and presentation.

This is a new company to me but judging by the quality of the product they have a great future. They hail from Poland and produce a range of interesting decals in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 and are worth looking at through their site at www.exito.site.

I am really impressed with the manner of presentation, with the decals and information material backed with a very solid card sheet inside a resealable thin plastic sleeve, which unfortunately split very easily when I opened it - might be worth replacing with a zip-lock bag methinks.

Each aircraft is given a high quality coloured A4 double-sided poster with, on one side there is a side view and, on the rear, a mass of photos, drawings, colour and decal placement information. It is suggested that the modeller might like to frame these for display and they are certainly of sufficient quality to do this.

The three aeroplanes covered on this sheet are:

  1. Spitfire LF MkVb, EN921/YO-A of 401 Sqn. RCAF of F/O Jack Sheppard in the UK 6-10/1943 in Dark Green/Ocean Grey over Medium Sea Grey ( DG/OG/MSG) colours with a voluptuous blonde lass on the port nose,

  2. Spitfire LF Mk VIII, MT841/U of 2 Sqn , RIAF, Kohat India, Spring 1946 in the SEAC colours of DG /Dark Earth/ MSG and two-blue roundels with another blonde on the nose called “Pauline - me wee smasher”, and

  3. Spitfire LF MkIXe, TA864/LW-L of 318 (Gdanski) Sqn, RAF flown by P/O Zdzislaw Uchwat at Risano, Italy in 5-6/1945 in standard DG/OG/MSG colours with another unclothed lass , a brunette this time, with the moniker “Why Not?”
