Hasegawa's 1/48 scale
B5N2 Kate

by Brian Bourdon

B5N2 Kate

Description

Here is my Hasegawa quarter scale B5N2 ‘Kate’ finished in prewar colors, circa June 1941.  The interior is very good OOB, but benefitted from Eduard’s excellent Zoom set as well as a few odds and ends.

I replaced the bomb aimer’s seat with a slightly modified photo etch piece sourced from my spares box and I scratch built the gunner’s seat, both of which were too small.

Then I added seat pads to each position.

I borrowed the Type 91 torpedo from Tamiya’s G4M ‘Betty’ and modified it to fit.  The contra rotating props were scratch built and the mounting racks were sourced from the old Nichimo kit.

The aircraft was finished in Vallejo Aluminum and White Aluminum Metal Colors.   The markings originated from several Hasegawa kits.

The red trim and walkway lines were cut from a generic decal sheet.
