FirstLook

Eduard has released a full engine set the Airfix 1/72 scale Wellington Mk.IA / IC kits.

Two full engines are included. The title sells the contents a bit short though. As well as the engine we have the cowl/collector rings, separate cowl panels that may be posed to taste, manifolds and exhausts for each engine.

Eduard's BRASSIN 1/72 scale Wellinton engine set comprises 39 parts in grey resin and one brass plated photo-etched fret.

The engine itself is beautifully detailed yet broken down as simply as practical. Each engine is made up from an impressive single casting with cylinders and push rods in place. The characteristic cap for the front of the engine is included too.

The cylinders, pushrod, crank case cover and propeller shaft are cast as a single part.

Separate parts are supplied for the side cowl covers and the front cowl / collector ring. A set of open cowl flaps is also provided.

The cowl ring and cowl flaps are cast as one piece each on thin strips. These should be fast and easy to remove and clean up.

Exhausts and other detail parts are also included as resin parts.

A photo-etched fret adds even more detail including cowl bracing.

The package is rounded out with heavily illustrated instructions.

Conclusion

This is an impressive upgrade for your Airfix 1/72 scale Wellington kits..

Eduard has designed this set to be as simple to build as possible.

You will still need some previous experience with resin parts, but this engine set appears to be as buildable as it is impressive. When finished, this will transform the basic kit.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
