FirstLook

Eduard has released a wing gun set for its 1/48 scale Tempest Mk.V kit. .

Eduard's BRASSIN 1/48 scale Tempest Mk.V Gun Bays comprise 24 parts in grey resin and one brass plated photo-etched fret.

The set includes resin guns, ammo, gun bay, covers and photo-etched parts.

The main bays are cleverly cast in one part each. They are attached to their casting block via fine stems that will be fast and easy to clean up.

The covers are beautifully fine and feature crisp, consistent rivet detail inside and out.

The characteristic blisters are properly hollow on the inside too.

The cannon breeches and the ammo bins are impressively detailed. These are all presented as one part each, making assembly a breeze.

Breeches and ammo boxes are cast directly onto their casting blocks so you'll want to use a razor saw or a Motor Tool to remove these.

The package is rounded out with heavily illustrated instructions.

Photo-etched parts are supplied for the gun bay floors, top mounts for the covers and other details.

Instructions are clearly drawn on two pices of folded A4 paper.

This set will require that you remove the kit's gun bay covers, but the cuts will be along panel lines and should be within the grasp of any modeller who has done conversion work in the past.

Conclusion

This is an impressive upgrade for Eduard's recent 1/48 scale Tempest Mk.V.

Detail is superb, and Eduard has designed this set to be as simple to build as possible.

Removing the kit gun covers should not present a challenge to any experienced modeller, and the result will make your Tempest stand out in the crowd.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
