Roden's 1/72 scale
Gotha G.Vb

Gotha G.Vb

Description

If you wish to add a real gem to your collection, then Roden's 1/72 scale Gotha is the kit for you.

In 1/72 scale, construction is not complicated. However, molding quality is not up to the fine surface details and much cleaning is required. In addition, engineering does not address the delicate structure. Notably, if you attach the wing parts as they appear, it is likely that the structure will collapse at some stage during construction. I inserted steel wires at the joints of the lower wings to reinforce the structure.

The lozenge pattern is the punch of the model. The decals performed well, but the suggested arrangement of the decal strips is misleading. The large wing surfaces are covered by cut strips of decal across. The problem is that the strips are not symmetric and some overlap is required. This results with a large decal sheet that is yet, insufficient to cover the wings. Better get an aftermarket sheet because the colors provided are questionable.

To make the build enjoyable as possible I used an old trick of mine. The model does not have to be perfect....
