Xtradecal has released a new series of decals in good timing for the forthcoming Airfix 1/48 scale Tiger Moth. They will also be suitable for the old Smer kit or the limited-run multimedia Tiger Moth from Aeroclub.
Tonight we are taking a look at Part Three, which covers Overseas (non-Commonwealth) Operators.
A nice selection of seven colourful schemes and marking are included.
Details are as follows:
-
DE-832/9 of French Pilots School, Armée de l'Air, Cognac, Charente, France 1948.
-
53 of SK.11, Flygvapnet, (Swedish Air Force) 1932.
-
107 of Força Aérea Portuguesa, (Portugeuse Air Force) 1937-40.
-
2-I-2 of Marinha do Brasil, Brazil, 1935.
-
002/V of Koninklijke Marine, based at Valkenburg en De Kooy, Netherlands, late-1950s.
-
T-2 of Belgisch Militaire Vliegwezen/Aviation Militaire Belge, Goetsenhoven, Belgium, 1950s.
-
DE745/Dorothy of 353rd Fighter Group, United States Army Air Force, based at Goxhill, North Lincolnshire, UK, Summer, 1943.
Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across one folded double-sided A4 and one double-sided A5 sheets.
Both side views plus upper and lower views are provided for all seven aircraft.
A selection of national markings is included.
Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.
The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.
This release will be very welcome for anyone who has the 1/48 scale SMER or Aeroclub Tiger Moth kits in their stash, but is also excellent timing for the forthcoming Airfix kit.
