Leading Edge Models has delivered quite a few spectacular Canadian special scheme decal sheets, but it is a few years since we have seen any new releases.

Leading Edge Models has broken the drought with a remarkable decal and masking set for a Canadian CF-18 Hornet commemorating 60 Years of Norad.

The set is available separately in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales. We are reviewing the 1/72 scale set.

Two larger decal sheets plus one small errata sheet are included. The decal sheets are glossy and printed in perfect register. Carrier film is very close to the edges of the individual decals. Leading Edge is not specific about who producted these decals but the sheets state that they are printed in Canada. They are beautifully done.

An optional self-adhesive, die-cut masking sheet allows the modeller to paint some of the areas of the airframe instead of using decals. Masks are supplied for the tips of the fins, elevators, wings and the fake canopy on the lower nose. The set may be purchased with or without the masking sheet.

Instructions are supplied on two colour letter-sized sheets, with masking directions on a half-sized letter sheet and colour reference photos on a larger folded sheet.

This is another impressive, colourful and unique marking scheme for a special Canadian Hornet.
