I received this set of 1/72 decals from Fantasy Print Shop to review but I have seen Brett Green has reviewed their bigger 1/48 brother at the end of last year.
This quick review is to let the “Gentleman Scale” modellers out there that the the Blenheim Mk.I/IF decals are also available in 1/72 scale.
The Blenheim decals have a double sided A4 printed but folded to A5 stapled instructions with about an A6 sized sheet of decals.
The Blenheim set is particularly suited for the newer Airfix Blenheim Mk.I release but I’m sure it will fit one of the many other boxings from many manufacturers of this aircraft.
Aircraft schemes offered are;
-
Blenheim Mk.I K7040 V/114 of 114 squadron, RAF Wyton, Cambs. March 1937
-
Blenheim Mk.I K7059 TW of 90 squadron, RAF Bicester, Oxon, Sept 1938
-
Blenheim Mk.IF Serial unknown YN.B of 601 squadron, RAF Hendon, Middx. summer 1939
-
Blenheim Mk.I L7760 UQ of 211 squadron, RAF Tatoi, Greece, late 1940
-
Blenheim Mk.IF K7159 YK.N of 54 OUT, RAF Chruch Fenton, North Yorks, Dec 1940Blenheim Mk.IF L1210 P of 771 Naval Air Squadron, FAA at RNAS Hatston, Orkney, 1942-43
The quality if the printing from the Fantasy Print Shop is excellent with both sets appearing to be in perfect register, not overly thick and with excellent depth of colour. With the addition of suitable British roundels, this sheet will deliver multiple aircraft models. Maybe just use the kit supplied roundels and add the individual markings.
Colour callouts suggested colours are FS numbers, Humbrol, Xtracolour, Xtracrylix, LifeColor and Modelmaster shades.
This is a quality product at a very reasonable price for the number of choices it offers the modeller.
