Description

Recently I had the luck to get two examples of Special Hobby´s recently released Lockheed Delta. I was so impressed by these little gems that I could not resist to put them on the workbench immediately.

Originally intended as an airliner, the few production Deltas have been used mainly for surveying and as transport for mail or personal in civil and military use. This model depicts a very special delta: “VISO” was the only Delta RT1 having been flown by the US Coast Guard as an VIP transport. In this role it was the personal transport of Henry Morgenthau, at this time United States Secretary of the Treasury in the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Building the Delta is quite a straightforward pleasure. The only matter I had to give some thought to was how to get the clear parts of the fuselage windows fit. Fit itself is no problem, a bit challenging is the fact that these parts have no connecting links.

Decals are superbly printed but very crisp and prone to break- that gave me some intense moments during attaching them.

These two points are the only aspects I would recommend a little bit of extra care. All in all, that is a very nice kit and you can expect quite a quantum of modelling fun!
