Xtradecal's 1/48 Defiant Decals will be available online from Squadron.com
Xtradecal released two 1/72 scale decal sets covering the Avro Shackleton in late 2015. Tonight I am examining a new third instalment.
This time, all of the subjects are the AEW.2 variant - the subject of the Revell kit - and each features nose art from 8 Sqn named after the Herbs or Magic Roundabout children's TV characters.
A whopping 12 aircraft are covered.
All are finished in overall Dark Sea Grey.
Details are as follows:
-
WL741 41 'PC Knapweed'/'Basil';
-
WL745 46 'Sage';
-
WL747 48 'Florence';
-
WL754 54 'Paul';
-
WL756 56 'Mr Rusty'/'Snoopy';
-
WL757 57/8 'Brian';
-
WL790 90/8 'Mr McHenry'/'Zebedee';
-
WL793 93 'Ermintrude'/'Dylan';
-
WL795 95 'Rosalie'/ 'Zebedee';
-
WR960 60 'Dougal';
-
WR963 63/8 'Ermintrude'/Parsley';
-
WR965 65 'Dill'/Rosalie
Two full sets of national markings are supplied.
Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded A4 sheets. Both side plus upper and lower views are provided for all aircraft. Stencils are not included.
Colour notes are supplied, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.
The two full sized decal sheets are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film. One sheet carries national markings, yellow walkway lines, Royal Air Force lettering, small numbers, serials and nose art, while the second sheet covers the large white-oulined red serials.
It's great to see that Hannants once again providing interesting marking options for a recent release. The alternative markings will be welcomed by RAF modellers.
Highly Recommended.
