Xtradecal has released a new 1/72 scale decal set with ten options for the forthcoming Airfix Phantom FG.1 kit.

 

 

Xtradecal has found ten different options, many with special markings, zaps or other distinguishing factors.

All ten aircraft are finished in Royal Navy 1960s and 70s era camouflage of Gloss Extra Dark Sea Grey on the upper surfaces and Gloss White below.

 

 

Details are as follows:

  • XT866/W Phantom Post-Operational Conversion Unit RN Leuchars 1970s;

  • XT859 725/VL 700P NAS Intensive Flying Trials Unit RN Yeovilton 1968;

  • 892 Sqn on HMS Ark Royal selection

  • XV567 011/R cross decking with USS Saratoga 1969;

  • XT872 005/R 1973;

  • XT860 014/R 1976;

  • XV590 001/R Colonial Navy cross decking with USS Saratoga 1978 with final cruise nose flash;

  • XT865 004/R 1978;

  • XT872 004/R 1977;

  • XT863 014/R 1977 with FAA Jubilee nose flash; XT864 007/R 1975 with final cruise nose flash;

A good selection of standard and custom national markings are included.

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across one folded double-sided A4 and one A5 sheets. Both side plus upper and lower views are provided for all ten aircraft. Large underwing serials are split between the bottom of the main sheet and a separate half sheet.

 

 

Colour notes are supplied, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

 

 

This release offers a great variety of camouflage and markings for anyone planning to build the forthcoming Airfix 1/72 scale Phantom FG.1.
