Eduard's 1/48 BRASSIN Spitfire VIII Top Cowl is available online from Squadron.com
One of the few minor quibbles about Eduard's superb 1/48 scale Spitfire family is that the top cowl is split down the middle into two pieces, leaving a sometimes tricky seam to clean up.
Eduard has now addressed this issue on their 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.VIII kit with this simeple, one-piece resin upper cowl.
It couldn't be much simpler. The crisply detailed upper cowl can be quickly removed from its casting surrounds and then glued to the upper nose.
Detail is superior to the kit part. I particularly like the line of fasteners that surround the base of the cowl.
I have freed the part from its resin casting base. This is a very simple exercise, taking only a few minutes with sprue cutters, a sharp hobby knife and a sanding stick.
This is an easy, inexpensive and worthwhile upgrade for Eduard's 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.VIII.
Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
