This is a welcome set to compliment the relatively recent release of the Special Hobby Mirage F.1, although it will obviously suit kits by Hasegawa, Heller, Airfix/MPC (also briefly re-boxed by Heller), and Esci/Ertl

The Decals

The decals are supplied in Xtradecal’s usual polythene zip-lock bag. The instructions are very nicely produced in colour, and clearly indicate markings placement. A brief note regarding the aircraft and its station location is given for each subject.

A list of Xtracolor and Xtracrylix paint codes is also provided for the colours required, as well as their FS595 codes in the case of even of the schemes. Several schemes include useful modeller’s notes mentioning the need to fit or make items like refueling probes, fin fillets, and antennae.

A thread was started on the Plane Talking forum following publication of this First Look review. The post questions the accuracy of the Mirage F.1CT scheme the illustration of a refuelling probe fitted to the SAAF F.1CZ. Some useful information is provided in the post and the subsequent discussion it generated, so I encourage readers to check out the comments by clicking here.
