Xtradecal has released a new decal sheet designed for the forthcoming Airfix Junkers Ju 87 B-1 Stuka.

Although there are a number of Ju 87 B Stuka kits already in 1/48 scale, they are all the later B-2 variant. The B-1 variant saw heavy use in the Blitzkrieg campaigns and the Battle of Britain, so the forthcoming all-new Airfix kit is particularly welcome.

 

 

All eight subjects are finished in the standard bomber scheme of RLM 70 Black Green and RLM 71 Dark Green upper surfaces over RLM 65 Light Blue.

 

 

Specific details of the subjects on the new Xtradeal sheet are as follows:

  • T6+BC Stab/St.G2 Bonn-Hangelar 1940. Green Stab aircraft letter and spinner tip with a large unit logo.

  • T6+GM 7/St.G2. White aircraft letter and spinner tip with a unit logo.

  • T6+EP 6/St.G2. Yellow aircraft letter (outlined in black) and spinner tip with a large unit logo.

  • T6+BS 8/St.G2 1940. Red aircraft letter (outlined in white) and spinner tip with a unit logo.

  • 6G+AR 7/St.G51 France 1940. White aircraft letter and spinner band with large yellow meteor and streak on each side of the fuselage.

  • S1+AB 1/St.G76 Hptm Walter Sigel Poland 1939. Green Stab aircraft letter, green white outlined chevron and spinner tip with a large unit logo.

  • S2+EP 6/St.G77 BofB 1940 yellow nose, yellow aircraft letter and spinner tip and a large unit logo.

  • S2+AP 6/St.G77 Hptm Herbert Pabst yellow fuselage band, Russia 1941. Yellow aircraft letter and spinner ti, yellow rear fuselage band and lower wing tips with a large unit logo.

A number of variations of Balkenkreuz are supplied to cater to the different sizes for the eight subjects. The applicable markings are clearly numbered and indicated in the instructions.

 

 

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded double-sided A4 and one A5 sheet. Both side views are provided for all eight aircraft. Stencils are not included.

 

 

Colour notes are supplied, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

 

This release offers some interesting and colourful options for modellers planning to build the forthcoming Airfix 1/48 scale Junkers Ju 87 B-1 Stuka.
