F i r s t L o o k

 

 

This is new release in 1/72 scale by Miliverse and they have once again produced a fine quality decal sheet depicting the F-15SG in the Singapore Air Force.  The F-15SG is a dual seat late version of the F-15E Strike Eagle and has some unique antenna fits incorporated on this version.  Currently Hasegawa is the only manufacturer to release a kit of the F-15SG in 1/72 scale although other versions can be used with minor modification..

The decals are superbly printed and they have good colour saturation and are in perfect register.  The carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with this type of decal in the past has been that the decals need to be handled carefully and will snuggle down into the surface detail well.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

The colour schemes provided for four aircraft of the RSAF painted in overall FS36118 Gunship Grey are;

  • F-15SG Serial no 05-0005 of 428BSF “Buccaneers” Flagship aircraft.  This aircraft has a special anniversary tail scheme of the two flags of the host and quest countries to celebrate Peace Carvin V 5th Anniversary in 2014. 

  • F-15SG Serial no 05-0007 of 428BSF “Buccaneers”.  This aircraft has a modified special anniversary tail scheme to celebrate Peace Carvin V 5th Anniversary in 2014 similar to that of aircraft 05-0005.

  • F-15SG Serial no 8302 of 149 Sqn “Fighting Shikras” Flagship aircraft.  This aircraft has a special anniversary tail scheme celebrate Peace Carvin V 5th Anniversary as displayed at Exercise Red Flag in 2014. 

  • F-15SG Serial no 05-0003 of 428BSF of 428BSF “Buccaneers”.  This aircraft has a new low-vis scheme applied for Exercise Red Flag in 2014.
