The missiles in the review sample are ever so slightly warped. Nothing gluing them firmly to launch rails won’t fix. |

Eduard's 1/48 AIM-4D Missile Set is available online from Squadron.com
The AIM-9J was arguably the first true dogfight version of the Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missile. It was rushed into action in South-East Asia Theatre in July 1972 during the Linebacker campaign to help USAF pilots in their aerial encounters with North Vietnamese MiGs.
The Juliet model could be launched at up to 7.5g (74 m/s²) and introduced the first solid state components, It featured improved actuators capable of delivering 90 lb·ft (120 N·m) torque to the canards, improving its dogfight prowess over earlier models.*
A simple resin weapons set from Eduard. The AIM-9J was widely exported, so if you’re not planning to hang this under a Vietnam era Phantom you will be able to use it for plenty of other projets. Me, I’ll be hanging mine under a Phantom!
Parts appear beautifully cast and well detailed. Eduard offer a choice, you can model seeker heads exposed – clear resin parts are provided for this purpose - or capped with the as you would see them before flight.
The resin parts provided here are an obvious improvement on the Juliet model Sidewinders included by Academy its recent F-4 releases including the F-4C “Vietnam War” boxing.
The option to model the Sidewinders capped is a welcome one as it provides a chance to add an extra splash of colour to your model. These large rubber caps are a bright, but typically grubby with grime, yellow colour.
