Roden's 1/32 scale
Fokker Dr.1

This is a depiction of the aircraft flown by Ltn. Friedrich ‘Fritz’ Kempf in France in 1918.
It’s the well-known Roden 1/32 kit. I built this almost straight out-of-the-box, with only the addition of seatbelts, a little rigging, and the streamers attached to the protective wooden skids under the lower wing tips.
The streaked Fokker camouflage was achieved with self-mixed colours made up from Tamiya acrylic paints thinned with their X-20A thinners. The darker green streaks were applied quickly before the thinners had a chance to ‘bite’ the lighter green.
This was a simple relaxing build, and I think that it’s a very good kit for beginners to make their first WW1 model, not least because there’s very little rigging to do.
