Xtradecal's 1/48 Defiant Decals will be available online from Squadron.com

Xtradecal has recently released a new 1/48 scale decal set covering the Boulton-Paul Defiant Mk.I/NF.II/ ASR.Mk.I.

Although this release will be suitable for the long out of production Classic Airframes kit, it is perfectly timed for the all-new Airfix kit due for release in 2016 - just around the corner really!

The six subjects cover a selection of schemes and markings for Defiant night fighters and an ASR version.

Details are as follows:

• Mk.I N3340 YD-D 255 Sqn RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey 1941;

• Mk.I N3437 EW-K 307(Polish Night Fighter) Sqn RAF Jurby IOM 1941

• NF.Mk.I V1110 RA-H 410 Canadian) Sqn RAF Drem 1941;

• Mk.I V1116 JT-H 256 Sqn RAF Colerne 1943;

• ASR.MK.I V1121 BA-O 277 Sqn RAF Stapleford Tawney 1942;

• NF.Mk.II AA583 ZJ-M 151 Sqn S/Ldr R.C.Haine RAF Wrexham 1942;

Five styles of B-Type fuselage roundels are included, as well as upper wing roundels and fin flashes. Interestingly, one of the B-Type roundels (no.36, with the thin yellow border), do not apply to any of these six options. They'll come in handy for the spares box though!

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded A4 sheets. Both side views are provided for all aircraft.

Colour notes are supplied, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

It's great to see that Hannants are getting in so early for this highly anticipated release. The alternative markings will be welcomed by RAF modellers.
