Res-Im has released a Beaufighter Operator's Canopy set for Tamiya's kit.

The problem with the kit-supplied radio operator / observer's canopy is that it is moulded as the clear part open, but the hatch includes a section of the fuselage spine.

Res-Im's set addresses this issue by supplying the hatch and clear sections cast as one piece. All you need to do is cut away the hatch area from the kit fuselage, following the recessed panel lines.

Res-Im has supplied the two main styles of canopy - the plain bubble and the reinforced version with the rear opening for a machine gun. Interior fuselage structural features are cast onto the insides of both resin parts.

Casting quality is very good, with the parts quite clear straight from the bag. Clear resin responds very well to Future floor polish though, so they will look even better after a quick bath.

The parts are cast onto a right-angle strip. They should be be easy to remove and clean-up in preparation for assembly.

This is a simple but very useful set that will allow you to upgrade two Tamiya 1/48 scale Beaufighters.

Recommended.
