First Look. |
Advantages: |
Exquisite scale finesse, superb quality, handy instructions. |
Disadvantages: |
None apparent. |
Conclusions: |
Master’s pitot tubes and refuelling probes are of excellent quality, superbly rendered, well packaged, and come with good instructions. They are without doubt excellent products that enable average modellers to achieve a level of scale finesse previously the preserve of masters. Highly recommended. |

A few words are in order despite the items reviewed in this “First Look” telling most of their story with images alone.
Many jets have pitot tubes and refuelling probes that are beyond the ability of injection kit makers to replicate with sufficient finesse in The One True Scale. Fortunately, the Polish company of Master offers superb range of delicate and refined replacement pitots and probes, as well as machinegun and cannon barrels too.
Each replacement pitot and/or probe comes well packaged in a little resealable cellophane bag, which, along with a folded sheet of instructions, is further enclosed in a small zip-lock plastic bag. This outer bag is stiffened with a card insert to protect the contents from bending, and is topped off with a stapled card header. The instructions identify the size drill-bit required and illustrate the fitting of the pitot or probe.
The sets reviewed here are a mixture of turned brass and aluminium parts:
Gloster Javelin (pitots):
De Havilland Sea Vixen (pitots):
Hawker-Siddeley Buccaneer (pitot and refuelling probe head):
Dassault Mirage IV (refuelling probe boom):
I struggled to photograph the parts due to their reflectivity and small size, and resorted to using my scanner (only after I dropped the Buccaneer pitot inside my printer/scanner and bent it!). The scanned images resulted in very small files, so I apologise for their inferior quality.
These exquisite replacement pitot tubes and refuelling probes will add considerable scale finesse to their intended subjects.
Master’s pitot tubes and refuelling probes are of excellent quality, superbly rendered, well packaged, and come with good instructions. They are without doubt excellent products that enable average modellers to achieve a level of scale finesse previously the preserve of masters.
Highly recommended
