Advantages:	Exquisite scale finesse, superb quality, good instructions.
Disadvantages:	None apparent.
Conclusions:	Master’s MiG-19 and Shenyang J-6/F-6 sets are exquisitely executed, and of superb quality. Master enables average modellers to achieve a level of scale finesse previously the preserve of masters – Highly recommended.

FirstLook

This is a First Look where looking is just about all that is needed, however, a few words are still probably in order.

The MiG-19 and the J-6/F-6 Chinese-made version have some features that are impossible for injection moulding to capture in The One Tue Scale. In particular, these include the quite complex cannon muzzle-brakes and pitots. Also, in the case of the missile-armed Farmer-E, there are delicate rod-like extensions to the APU-4 pylons that carry the RS-2U missiles. The Polish company Master Model has solved these issues with the three sets reviewed here.

Each detail set comes packaged in a small resealable cellophane bag, which along with a folded sheet of instructions is further enclosed in a zip-lock plastic bag. This outer bag is stiffened with a card insert to protect the contents from bending, and is topped off with a stapled card header. The instructions are clear and thorough, and indentify drill-bit sizes for any mounting holes required.

The MiG-19 S and Shenyang J-6/F-6 sets are not the same, as the differences in cannon muzzle-brake style are accurately depicted (click to see Mig-19 and J-6/F-6); although I have noticed some variation in MiG-19 styles across different walka-arounds. A spare of these delicate resin items is included in each case. The pitots are very finely executed in all three cases, and the APU-4 missile rail extensions are similarly fine.

Conclusion

Master’s MiG-19 and Shenyang J-6/F-6 sets are exquisitely executed, and of superb quality. Master enables average modellers to achieve a level of scale finesse previously the preserve of masters.
