The M117 is an air-dropped general-purpose bomb used by United States military forces. It dates back to the time of the Korean War of the early 1950s. Although it has a nominal weight of 750 pounds (340 kg), its actual weight, depending on fuze and retardation options, is around 820 pounds (372 kg). Its explosive content is typically 403 pounds (183 kg) of Minol 2 or Tritonal. It can also be configured with a low-drag tail fin for medium and high-altitude deliveries.

Eduard’s new Brassin M117 bombs come nicely packed in a robust plastic blister with a foam insert inside to protect the contents during travel.

The contents comprise of enough tail and main casings to make 6 M117’s with 3 choices of nose fuse allowing you to configure the bombs as you wish.

Nose and tail sections are cast in a light grey resin with minimal pour stubs and no evidence of air holes or other issues.  The fuses are cast in a slightly darker grey resin again with no issues.

Surface detail is crisp and nicely executed and a simple instruction leaflet covers assembly and correct orientation of nose and tail units.

Colours and Markings

A small decal sheet is provided for stencil information and the all-important yellow ‘HE ring’ for the nose as well as colour call outs which are given for GSI/ Gunze Aqueous and Mr Colour paints.

Perfect for an underwing load on a Vietnam Era US Jet. I think they’d look particularly ‘ally’ as an ordinance load out on a F105.

Nicely executed ordinance with great detail and superb manufacture.
