FirstLook

Specifically designed to replace the plastic items from the 1/48th scale Eduard kit. These airbrakes offer a slight improvement over the kit items. Though there is nothing different to the outer surface of the airbrakes, it is the inner details of the door where the improvements lay. Eduard have embossed much more detail into the interiors of the resin parts than what could be achieved with the plastic items. They are definitely an improvement over the kit parts.

As per the kit items, some surgery is needed on the kit to install the two forward brakes. The kit has the brakes molded closed however to display them open the brakes themselves need to be cut away. The airbrake wells are then installed and and the resin items used in place of the original kit pieces.

The other items included are the hydraulic actuator arms.

Due to the thinness of the resin, care will need to be taken when removing the airbrakes from the casting blocks.

Conclusion

If you’re keen on resin replacement items and you want to specifically open the airbrakes on your MiG-21 then I can recommend this set.

The only issue I have with is that the visible improvement over the kit pieces may be difficult to see once installed.

Recommended.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
