NSAWC F-16

Czech Model's 1/32 F-80C Shooting Star is available online from Squadron.com

Description

This is my first build for this new year. I start this model two month ago for a friend that he wished a F-16.

He wanted a "color" F-16. I proposed him a NSAWC adversary with its brown camo. He loved it immediately but wanted a F-16 with all hardpoint points with a charge.

Not realistic for a NSAWC F-16 but sometimes we build a model for the pleasure not always for sticking with the reality.

Kinetic provides a F-16 with this scheme. In same box we can make a F-16A or F-16B but unfortunely, the decals permit only a A model in brown camo. The B is only in blue an gray scheme!

I decide to use the A serial. After all this plane is not "a realistic" plane with their armements

I add some minor improvement to this box:

  • some details to the gear and wheels wells

  • Aires resin ejection seat. I choose a generic reference for F-16 but these ejection seat are too thick for a Kinetic model and must be sanding at their base

Contrary the other Kinetic F-16 box, the adversary box have only few armements. They are only two GBU-12 and I need 4. I take their from a Hasegawa armement set.

The build is not very difficult. The main problem is the cockip that it was too thick. I've saw too late when I have already painting it. Sanding the base is delicat when it is painting

I use Gunze paint for the camo:

  • For the light brown FS30279 I use a mix at 50% H310 50% H11

  • For the brown FS30219 I use the H310

  • For the dark brown FS30140 I use 60% H37 40% H31

  • The exhaust nozzle is painted with Alcad (Aluminium, White Aluminium, Exhaust Manifold and Hotmetal Violet. Yes the hotmetal violet is not the best color for F-16 exhaust. Hotmetal blue is a more valuable choice but it was not in my stock )

  • The canopy is tinted with "Klir" added with Tamiya "Smoke" and Tamiya "Clear Yellow"

And it's all to obtain a sympathic F-16.
