Wingman Models has produced a very nice resin weapons set that includes six SUU-30B/B Cluster Bombs.

The SUU-30B/B is the blunt nose version of the SUU-30A/B which was produced by Hasegawa in 1/48 scale in their weapons set series.  I believe this is the first time that the SUU-30B/B has been produced in 1/48 scale.

Each bomb is made of two resin parts a front part with the blunt nose and fuse assembly and the second part contains the tail assembly.  The tail fins along with the tip plates are accurately portrayed in etched metal.  Each tail fin needs to be formed to match the circular contour of the bomb before the fins are bent to the required angle.  The tip plates can be fitted either along the top of the fin or on the end of the fin so you need to check references.  Finally an end plate in etched metal is included to fit to the end of the bomb but once again check references as this was not always fitted.

A comprehensive set of decals is also included to finish off the bombs.

The instruction sheet contains two photographs of actual bombs in service for a bit of reference material.

My only minor criticism would be that no attachment lugs are moulded on the bombs and these are a prominent feature if the bomb is displayed not fitted a bomb beam or rack.

Highly Recommended.

Thanks to Wingman Models for the sample
