Review Type:

First Look.

Advantages:

Handy supplement for finishing IAF fighter models. Some markings are pre-joined by their top-coat to from a strip multiple victory marks, whilst other are individual markings.

Disadvantages:

None apparent.

Conclusions:

These sets provide are a handy adjunct for finishing IAF fighters where kill markings are required. The variation in backing film covering individual and strips of marking saves having to carefully prune around some very small decals.

I am happy to recommend these sets.

Background

Armycast M&M’s website introduction gives a brief background of the company's four members. They obviously take pride in their products, and proclaim that they believe “their products will speak to you.”  Armycast M&M offer an interesting range of products in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/35 scales; and I encourage readers to take the time to check out their website. images to do most of the talking.

Decal Sets

The decal sheets come in small zip-lock plastic bag with a paper header enclosed; they each feature the same kill markings in the appropriate scale. The header identifies each roundel by nationality, and shows which markings are grouped on the same piece of carrier film to cover where strips of kill markings are needed.

The remainder of the kill markings each have their own section of carrier film. I think that this approach is better than having all the markings on their individual carrier film, or alternatively having the whole sheet printed on a single backing film.

The decals provide miniature roundels for aircraft from:

  •  Egypt for both Royal Egyptian Air Force (1945-48 style) and & for the post-1948 Al Quwwat al Jawwiya al Misriya.

  •  Syria, 1963-71 roundel with three-stars, 1972-80 roundel with no stars; and the post-58 Egyptian roundel with its two-stars will suffice for the 1958-61 Syrian roundel style (period of the Egyptian-Syrian United Arab Republic). Some of the Syrian roundels have an AAM superimposed (denoting a missile kill?), and some half roundels (denoting a shared kill?).

  •  Lebanon, in the usual style of a green centre circle in a white triangle on a red outer disc, and anther style featuring a cedar tree on a white disc surrounded by a red outer ring. The cedar tree normally features on the fin flash in the style of the Lebanese flag, so this may be an IAF amalgam of the Lebanese national flag and a roundel background.

  •  Jordan.

  •  Iraq in both 1931-2003 and post-2003 styles.

Both sheets look to be nicely printed, although such is their size that the post’58 Egyptian and Syrian markings look the same to my naked (and admittedly faltering) eyes.
