Taurus Models continue to impress with their ever growing range of resin accessories and these latest two releases are perfect examples of their craft.

Not only are they great additions to their respective aircraft, these engine also make superb stand-alone models. The castings are perfect with not a trace of distortion anywhere. Nor are there any air bubbles to fight with. The degree of detail is stunning and photographs alone do not do these parts justice.

Kit# D3208 Oberursel UI

There are 80 pieces of resin to complete this masterpiece. Some of the items are very small so a bit of care will be needed to remove each one from its casting block.

To be able to deliver such a high level of detail, the breakdown of parts needs to be right…and it is.
Cylinder heads, push rods, spark plugs, and valve gear are all separate. The latter can even be posed in either an open or closed position.

As the packaging says, there’s no simplification here.

A basic set of instructions are included with each kit but if go to the Taurus website, you’ll get all the information you need.

The obvious airframe to attach this engine to is the Wingnut Wings Fokker E.II/E.III.

Kit# D3213 Gnome Monosoupape 9 Type B-2 (100hp)

This time the parts total is a staggering 91 pieces of resin.

Everything said about the Oberursel also applies here. We get the same incredible attention to detail and the same high quality of casting.

To see an example of this finesse, just look at the cylinder cooling fins. They are sharply defined and perfectly formed. A closer look at the crankcase will reveal exquisite hexagon nuts and even a length of thread passing through them.

Some of the parts are extremely small so put your hands inside a plastic bag when removing them from the casting block. That will keep any renegade items from flying off into the ether.

A wider variety of kits come to mind when looking for a mate to suit this engine. In 1:32 scale, one can’t go past the WNW DH.2, FE.8, and Sopwith Pup.
