FirstLook

There are several brands of replacement resin P-51wheels in 1/72-scale, and some are very good. You may wonder if we need more options, but Eduard obviously thinks that we do. Adherents of the Eduard Brassin range should be pleased with this release for such a popular subject as the P-51.

The front of the packaging specifies that the wheels are intended for the Eduard kit, which I assume is an error; whilst listing the Tamiya kit on the rear, which makes more sense. The wheels will obviously suit other brands of kit as well. They come attractively packaged in a blister pack with sponge cushioning. Very clear instructions are included, with colour call-outs cross-referenced to the Gunze Aqueous, Mr Color, and Mr Metal Colour paint ranges. The pour stubs attach to the tyres with very small contact points, and so should very easy to remove and clean up for use.

The quality of casting is exquisite, with diamond block tread on the tyres and beautifully rendered wheel hubs. The tyres are not weighted, which is fine by me, as they can be flattened slightly to simulate some weight bearing on them if required.

I have used images from Eduard's website.

Conclusion

These are excellent replacement wheels, and definitely recommended.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples.
