Trumpeter's 1/24 scale Bf 109 G-6 is available online from Squadron

Description

This is the old Monogram kit updated with Lone Star's resin cockpit and wheels. The landing gear was fabricated using wire, aluminum tube and plastic. A Vector engine was substituted for the kit engine. All the holes for the kit's retractable gear were filled and new aileron and elevator hinges were added.

The Lonestar seat was unusable ( too many air holes and gaps in the resin) so an Eduard seat for the Wild Cat was used. Yellow Wings decals. The wing chevron was sprayed with the same willow green as the cowling. I used Testors silver on the wings because I think it nicely replicates the look of silver dope on fabric. However, disaster struck when I tried to mask the wings to spray the top surface yellow. The tape lifted the paint. It took three sprays to get it right.

The model was rigged using RB's flat stainless wire for the flying and landing wires and elastic line for the antenna.
